【翻译原文】
对联(Chinese couplet)是写在纸、布上或刻在竹子、木头上的两句押韵的语句。一副标准的对联，总是由对仗(antithetic in form)的两部分所组成，前一部分称为“上联”，后一部分称为“下联”，两者字数一致，平仄协调(harmonious in tone )。对联作为一种习俗，是中国传统文化的重要组成部分。对联形式短小，文辞精炼，既是一种生动的艺术表现形式，又是一种优秀的文化遗产。

Chinese couplet is two rhyming sentences written on paper or cloth or carved on bamboo or wood. A standard couplet is always composed of two parts antithetic in form. The first part is called "upper couplet" and the latter part is called "lower couplet", whose characters are consistent and harmonious in tone. As a custom, Chinese couplet is an important part of Chinese traditional culture. With short form and refined language, Chinese couplet is not only a vivid form of artistic expression, but also an excellent cultural heritage.
