　　布达拉宫（Potala Palace）是一座举世闻名的建筑群。它是世界上最高的古代宫殿，最高点达到3700米。布达拉宫占地总面积为36万平方米，主楼高117米，共13层。整座宮殿具有鲜明的藏式风格(Tibetan style}。布达拉宫堪称是一座各种艺术的博物馆，它收藏的无数珍宝对于研究西藏的政治、经济、历史和文化都具有重大的价值。1994年，布达拉官被列为世界文化遗产(world cultural heritage )。

　　The Potala Palace is a world-famous architecture complex. It is the highest ancient palace in the world, reaching3,700 meters at the top point. Covering a total area of 360,000 square meters, the Potala Palace is 117 meters high for the main building is 13 stories. The total palace is of distinct Tibetan style. The Potala Palace is called a museum of various arts. It houses a collection of numerous treasures which is of great value for the study of politics, economy, history and culture in Tibet. In 1994, the Potala Palace was listed as a world cultural heritage site.

　　1.第2句由两个分句构成，可把第1个分句处理成主句，第2个分句处理为分词短语，用来补充说明，该句译为It is...，reaching...at the top point。第2个分句中的“最高点”可转换成地点状语，用介词短语at the top point来表达、置于句末。

　　2.第3句内含两个分句，翻译时可把第1个分句“布达拉宫占地……”处理成伴随状语，用分词短语covering a total area of...来表达；把第2个分句的“主楼高117米”处理为主句，译作Potala Palace is 117 meters high for the main building，“共 13 层”则用介词短语 in 13 stories 来表达。

　　3.倒数第2句较长，可将其拆译。后半句中的“收藏的”可转译为动词house，使表达简单而形象。“对于研究西藏的......价值”可处理为修饰“无数珍宝”的定语从句，译作which is of great value for the study of...。

　　4.最后一句中的“被列为世界文化遗产”可译作was listed as a world cultural heritage site，增译site(地址，遗址)这个词来界定性质，使译文表达更为准确。
