四级口语第一，情景对话
A：Stay away from that guy as far as possible.
离那个家伙尽可能远点儿。
B: Oh, Mum. I can't.
噢，妈妈。我不能。
A: If you don't listen to me, you'll get your fingersburned.
要是你不听我的，你会引火烧身的。
B: If it has to be so, I won't pity my fingers.
如果必须是那样，我不会怜惜自己。
四级口语第二，词海拾贝
get one’s fingers burnt
exp. To suffer an unpleasant or ruinous consequence (especially the loss of money) forsome action, often such that one becomes unwilling or reluctant to do it again. (惹火烧身，自讨苦吃)
变异：have one’s fingers burnt
e.g. During the boom times, countless would-be investors put everything they owned in shadyinvestment deals, and most of them ended up getting their fingers badly burned.

1.stay away from ( something/someone)：远离......
e.g. He told his children to stay away from dangerous electrical things.

e.g. He sought out Philip and ordered him to stay away from him sister.

e.g. Stay away from him, he is now going around with a chip on his shoulder.

2.as far as possible：尽可能远地，尽量
e.g. Her middle of life was devoted to the care of a failing mother, and the endeavour to makea small income go as far as possible.
她的中年献给了照料一个衰老的母亲和尽可能使微薄的收入能够勉强度日的生活。
e.g. During these conferences I remained in the background as far as possible.
我在这些会议中尽可能地不突出自己。
