　　Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay based on the picture below. You should focus on the importance of environmental protection. You are required to write at least 150 words but no more than 200 words.

　　The picture depicts a man on his way to work while thinking to himself that his energy saving effort all those years hasn’t had any impact on the planet which is still in trouble and he thinks he shouldn’t care any more.

　　图画描述的是一位上班路上的男性，他内心想着这么多年他的节能努力似乎没有任何作用，地球还是处于麻烦当中，他觉得自己可以不用再在乎了。

　　If he thinks twice, he’ll realize environmental protection is imperative and demands the effort of every individual. Over the past few hundred years, humans have caused tremendous damage to the planet, threatening the well-being of both humans and animals. And we are also depleting earth’s resources: coal mines are being emptied to fuel factories, oil fields drained to power cars, forests cleared to make way for rice fields and plantations. And in the processes, we are heavily polluting the soil, the water, the air and the oceans at an alarming rate.

　　如果他再好好想想，他会意识到环境保护迫在眉睫，需要每个人的努力。过去几百年间，人类给地球造成了巨大破坏，危及到动物，也危及到自身。我们也正在耗尽地球的资源：挖空煤矿给工厂提供燃料;抽干油田让汽车有油烧;砍伐森林以便开垦稻田和种植园。在这些过程当中，我们以令人警惕的速度狠狠污染着土地，水资源，空气和海洋。

　　If measures are not taken to combat all these environmental issues, the world will soon become an uninhabitable place. Not only are governments and corporations responsible for earth conservation, individuals should also get actively involved in this cause. In this way, we can have a chance to continue to survive on earth.

　　如果不采取措施去应对这些环境问题的话，世界将很快变的无法居住。不仅政府和企业有责任保护地球，每个人也应当参与其中。这样，我们才有一线生机。
