　　Many Europeans now apparently view the U.S. the way many Americants view Mexico-as a cheap place to vacation, shop and party, all while ignoring the fact that the poorerlocals can't afford to join the merrymaking.

　　六级词汇讲解:

　　本句的主干是...Europeans...view the U.S..。the way many Americans view Mexico作主句的方式状语，破折号后as引导的短语as a cheap place to vacation，shop and party则作U.S.的宾语补足语。while引导的是主句的时间状语，that引导的是fact的同位语从句。

　　apparently意为“显然地”。如：

　　Apparently the girls are not scared by the situation.

　　很显然，女孩们并没有因为这种情况而被吓着。

　　ignore意为“忽略，忽视”。如：

　　Maria said her husband ignored her.

　　玛丽亚说丈夫忽视了她。

　　afford意为“负担得起”，该词还含有“提供，给予”之意。如：

　　The meeting afforded much useful information.

　　本次会议提供了许多有用的信息。

　　六级考点归纳：

　　“连词+现在分词”作状语的情况总结。

　　while、when、before、although、unless等连词引导的状语从句的主语与主句的主语一致时，可以简化为v.+ -ing形式作状语，但通常要保留原连词，形成“连词+现在分词”结构。如：

　　Although having nothing to do here, we can't leave.=Although we have nothing to do here, we can't leave.

　　虽然我们在这里无事可做，但不能离开。

　　My dad glanced over the newspaper while having breakfast.=My dad glanced over the newspaper while he had breakfast.

　　我爸爸边吃早餐边浏览报纸。

　　Some people get nervous when speaking in public.=Some people get nervous when they speak in public.

　　有的人当众讲话时就变得很紧张。

　　Wash your hands before eating your breakfast.=Wash your hands before you eat your breakfast.

　　吃早餐前要洗手。

　　Retum the book to the library after reading it.=Retum the book to the library after you read it.

　　书看完后请还回图书馆。

　　Though working day and night, we still could not finish our job.=Though we worked day and night, we still could not finish our job.

　　冬管我们日夜赶工，但还是没有完成工作。
