　　本句的宾语是一个名词性从句what kind of arms。

　　arm在本句中意为“武器;军火”，此外，arm还有“手臂;武装”的含义。如:

　　1)This arm injury will put me out of commission for a while，but hopefully I can go back towork soon.手臂上的伤将使我暂时不能工作，但是我希望能很快回去工作。

　　2) The murderer was armed and very dangerous.杀人犯携带武器，非常危险。

　　spell out在本句中意为“详细说明”。如:

　　Please spell out what you mean. I don't quite understand.请详细解释一下，我不太明白你的意思。

　　※ 注意spell的含义和用法。

　　l) spell作名词时意为“符咒”。如:

　　The witch put the princess under a spell, and she fell asleep for ten years.这个女巫对公主使用了巫术，使公主沉睡了10年。

　　2)与spell有关的短语还有:

　　dry spell(干旱期)，cold spell(寒潮期)，for a spell(一会儿)，have/keep/take a spell(轮班)，take byspells(轮流)，take breathing spells (短暂暂休息)等。

　　※ 需要注意的名词性从句引导词:

　　1)同位语从句的that不能省。如:

　　Hearing the news that her son died, she fainted.听到儿子去世的消息后，她晕倒了。

　　2)主语从句的that不能省略。如:

　　It is obvious that China has been developing very fast these years.显然，中国近年来一直发展很快。

　　3)引导主语从句或表语从句，表示“是否”之意时，只用whether，不用if。如:

　　Whether he will come or not is still not clear.他究竟是否会来仍不清楚。

　　The question is whether it is true.问题是这是不是真的。
