　　the reason why...是表示原因的固定句型，其中的why不可以用that替换。如：

　　The reason why I did it is obvious.

　　我这样做的理由是显而易见的。

　　说明reason的内容时不能用because。如：

　　The reason why he was late was that he was ill.

　　他之所以迟到，是因为他病了。

　　有时，the reason后也可接介词for，如上句又可改为：

　　The reason for his being late was that he was ill.

　　in reason意为“合理;正当”。如：

　　I'll do anything in reason to help you.

　　by reason of意为“由于”。如：

　　He looks down on us by reason that we are poor.
