　　在英语四级考试中同学们要突破的第一道关卡就是写作，很多同学面对800字的高考作文能够挥洒自如，然而面对短短的100字竟是苦恼万分，下面小编就来谈一谈如何写英语作文，希望对广大四级考生有帮助。

　　一 冗余的动词 + 名词

　　在同学们的作文中，常常出现这样的写法： We must make an improvement in our work. 乍看之下，没有多少问题，但是，我们需要看到，“make”是一个本身没有特殊含义，也没有情感色彩的万用词，句子的意思主要是由名词“Improvement”承担的，既然这个动词“make”没有实际上服务于句意，在严格的英语表述中其实是不应该出现的。因此，这个句子可以被修改为“we must improve our work.”

　　例句：

　　1 It is impossible for us to accomplish the transformation of the whole society overweight.

　　在这个句子中，accomplish the transformation 的含义简单的来说就是“扭转”，整个短语的词义实际上是由transformation来实现的，因此，可以修改为：

　　It is impossible for us to transform the whole society overweight.

　　我们无法扭转整个社会的肥胖趋势。

　　2 They must make up their minds to implement the reform of the current system.

　　Implement the reform 表示实施改革，implement的意思为“实施/实践/执行”，在这里其实表达的是“改革现有的体制”，因此关键词是“reform”。可以修改为：

　　They must make up their minds to reform the current system.

　　他们必须下定决心改革现有的体制。

　　3 solutions to these problems can be found only through…

　　这是一个典型的被动语态句子中的动词冗余现象。如果我们将其还原成主动语态，就是“found solutions to these problems” ，那么我们可以看到found solutions的主要意思还是落在solution之上，那么，found就多余了。可以修改为：

　　these problems can be solved only through…

　　这些问题只有通过…才能解决。

　　二 冗余的动词 + 名词 +其他词语

　　例句：

　　1 our troops used the method of slow advance

　　这个句子中，主意是表达我们的部队“缓慢进军”。

　　本身，这是一种战术策略和方法，那么the method of 就是多余的。

　　建议修改为： our troops advanced slowly.

　　我们的部队缓慢进军。

　　2 this measure will have a restrictive effect on the activities of speculators.

　　有些时候，其他的多余词语还可能是形容词的形式，比如这个句子中，“这一措施”将对“裁判”的活动起到“限制作用”，换句话说，不就是“限制裁判的活动“吗?因此，形容词和名词的搭配造成了句子的冗余，可以修改为：

　　this measure will restrict the activities of speculators.

　　这一举措将限制裁判的活动。
